Footer

The standard global footer that includes navigation links, social icons, and copyright information.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:

Let's take a look
at the footer module.
So the
footer module is what's known as a global
module,
which means that
you edit it in one place
and it's gonna update across your entire website.
So, uh, this makes sense because
you're-- if you update the links on your footer,
you're not gonna wanna update them on every single
website page. You could have, you know, three hundred
pages on your website, you're not gonna manually update
the footer on every page.
So you edit it in one place, the global
content editor,
and then it saves across your website.
So what you need to do to get to it is
you open the page editor, it can be any website
page, uh,
as, as long as it's not like a landing page that
has a specialized landing footer,
just one of your standard website pages, your homepage,
anything. You open it.
In the page editor, you scroll to the bottom,
and then you hover over the footer and you'll see that it turns
orange and it says, "This is global content."
You click on it and it'll say, you know,
"Are you sure you wanna edit this and
open the global content editor?" You click the button to
open it, and
it'll bring you to a global content editor.
And it's kind of weird in HubSpot, you get this,
uh, you know, this left
sidebar, and you click on it again,
and then it asks you if you wanna edit it again. So
you have to, you know, confirm that you are sure
you wanna edit, and I think it makes sense because it's
such a wide-reaching module, you--
they wanna make sure that you're certain
you're gonna edit it.
So let's scroll down to the bottom here.
And, uh, what you have to do too is like you have to
click on this contents,
and then you see
the footer, and then you click on it, and now we're
in there and we can edit it. So let me move my camera real
quick. And, um,
you know, this is a, a module that's both on
Scaffold Light and Scaffold Pro.
It's basically the same on both,
but there's just a f- a couple things
or, you know, a handful of things that you could do on Scaffold
Pro that you can't do on Scaffold Light, but it's a pretty standard
module. So
you have your footer links, your logo, your social
media here,
and then your bottom text, like your copyright text.
So, um,
basically all of these features are
on both Scaffold Light and Scaffold Pro.
If I go to the styles here, you see there's not much in the way
of styling. Basically, it's just you can
change the border radius on your social media
icons.
And then this button here is for light mode and dark mode,
which is only on Scaffold Pro.
But let me go to the footer links.
And you'll see it's set up by columns.
So no matter how many columns you have here,
it'll automatically like space
them out. So I think
I have it set so you can have up to six columns
on the footer, 'cause
past that starts getting complicated or
crowded,
but you see your footer. So just look at the top heading
of each, uh, column, and that's how you see
which column you're gonna work in. So we have HubSpot themes,
industries, literature, and company.
So let's click in the first one, HubSpot themes,
and within each column, then you have
sections. So here
we have, uh, HubSpot themes and services.
So you're just gonna see the heading of whatever section
you're working on, and you're gonna click in that,
and then you get the footer section title,
and then you could change the tag if you want it to be
H5 or H6 for SEO,
and then the size. So this is just saying,
you know, I want it to
be an H5 tag, but I want it to look
the size of an H1.
And with global content editors,
you always have to hit apply changes
to see your changes. It's not gonna,
uh, like on some of the other modules where you,
you know, you change something, you see it in real time.
For whatever reason, the HubSpot, when you're editing on a
global content editor,
you have to hit apply changes
and it'll load
and it'll take us back down. And now you see,
you know, we have this, it's still an H5
tag on the code, but it's
the size of an H1 tag.
So let's bring this back to H5 'cause that looks ridiculous,
and then I'll show you what these links look like on the inside.
So you click on the link
and it's pretty standard. You know, you,
you add the text to the link and then you do where
you want the link to go.
But one little,
um, feature here is just say, use
text, no link.
So this is useful like here for an address.
Obviously, we don't want this to be a link,
so I typed in this address here
and I selected this text to say
use text no link because there wasn't really
anything to link to there. That's just, we just wanna
show information. We don't wanna link to
anything. So that's what that's there for.
Now let's go back
to, uh, our footer
section here and just show you the logo.
So your footer logo,
it's gonna automatically take the logo from your
brand settings in,
in your HubSpot account.
But if you wanna override and put something else, you can
put that there.
I'd also suggest if you are in Scaffold
Pro, but honestly, this
is good advice for whatever you're on.
You wanna use like a PNG image with a
transparent background for your logo or an SVG,
because on Scaffold Pro, when it goes to
dark mode, it's automatically gonna apply a white
filter to your logo.
So if you're using like a JPEG, it'll just be like
a white box. You won't be able to actually see
the logo.
Just to know, you could change the, um,
logo size, you could change the margin on the bottom.
Then if you have
a tagline, you can put that tagline here, and then you could
change the tagline,
uh, heading tag and the size as well.
Then we have our social media.
Uh, you know, social media is one of those things
that I left
this feature. So basically this entire footer
is the same on Scaffold Light and Scaffold Pro. I
left the social media feature 'cause I think it's a useful
thing for
Scaffold Light to have access to.
And, um, yeah, it's pretty straightforward. You
you can add whatever you want. Like most of these things,
you can rearrange them
however you want.
Um, and then when you click in here,
we have all these accounts and platforms here. So
we have like
probably account like, you know,
I, I don't think there's a lot of people that are gonna link
their blogger account
here, but we just put as many social media icons
as we could think of and if there's anything missing,
just let us know and we'll add it.
But-- And you can put like your email too. If you just
wanna do email, it'll just show like a,
a, I think a@,
you know, symbol icon.
But there's the social media,
and then this is the,
the bottom text here. So you have your copyright,
so you could choose, do you wanna include the copyright
text, which is this, 2025?
One thing
that you'll notice which,
uh... So we handle this
copyright text automatically on the back
end, and something that drives me crazy,
and I don't understand why this is the case,
is to have it
say 2025 or 2026,
it's literally, like, a couple
characters of JavaScript to say.
It's barely any JavaScript to
automatically update the year.
So I don't know why it's so common, you see websites
where it's, like, hard-coded in there. Someone puts,
you know, they, they--
You go on a website and it says it's, you know, 2025,
and you go on there and it's copyright 2017.
Well, on our thing, it's just automatically
hap- you know, uses JavaScript every year,
every day. It's gonna check what year is it,
and it's gonna show the,
uh, appropriate year. So that's just one less thing
you have to worry about.
But then you have here your copyright text. You can put,
uh, your company name there.
My company is Terrier Digital. That's the
agency I run, and then Scaffold is our product.
So we have, uh, the company name,
and then we have it linked,
uh, you know, we have it, we have it linked
to... I said Add Link, and I put the link text,
and I have it linked to our company website.
And then the only thing that's on this
module, this footer module, that is a feature
that you have on Scaffold Pro that you do not have
on Scaffold Light,
is to remove Scaffold branding. So this
little text here that says, "Powered by Scaffold,"
is, uh, if you're on Scaffold Pro,
uh, you can remove that. If you're on Scaffold Light,
you know, it's free. I try to give you as much,
uh, you know, use as I can. I try to
provide as much as I can for you,
but it is free, so I do have this
little Powered by Scaffold link
on the bottom of the footer for Scaffold Light
websites. But
that's it. It's a pretty straightforward
module and, uh,
and yeah, I think
it serves the, the needs exactly you
want. You can put a ton of links on there. You can have,
uh, your address and things like that
and, uh,
yeah, if you run into any questions, you can just reach
out to us on, uh, our
different support channels.
